| Interface and data supply for a Paint Shop application

| This example of an interface and datasupply performs
the following functions: |

communicate with a host system via network |

The applications runs on an inrack VIPA-PC which
resides inside the housing of the I/O rack of a Siemens S5 PLC.

receive preview data containing an identification code
and data, which describes the physical car and attributes like color,
sunroof and number of doors, etc.. This data is written to an index-sequential
database |

identify a car by means of barcode label reading |
| - |
retrieve data from the local database. If data does
not exist, do a fast request to the host system |
| - |
after data is available, store to PLC memory (data block)
|
| - |
if data could not be found or in the case of misreadings
from the scanner, request data from a locally connected operator panel
(in this case OP15 from Siemens) |
