Configuring the PROFIBUS with "Simatic Manager"
For configuring a PROFIBUS connection between a PC and an S7 PLC you must have the "Simatic Manager" installed on a desktop or Laptop PC. The tool must be purchased from Siemens. Please contact your nearest Siemens Distributor for further details. Especially on Laptops the installation could be some kind of tricky. In spite of the fact that nowadays the size of hard disks is not that critical anymore, the "Simatic Manager" does really not hesitate to take a good part of it away. You will need at least something around 340 Megabytes for the installation. About 190 Megabytes will remain occupied, after the installation is finished.

Furthermore you should check the setting for the swapfile. Set this to at least to 40 MegaBytes for the Minimum. The first step would be the definition of all hardware components being used in the project. Start with the rack, for example UR2, and than add the rest. The following example shows a minimum configuration.
