I-Point
|
The application of this data capturing point is used
for identifying a car body at the entry of the warehouse. It features
a scanner operation (3 scanners), communication with FIS-host-systems,
emergency-data-entry in the case of a scanner-fault and a display
of important data.
Cars approaching this point have two barcode labels attached to the
outside of the body, which are readable by stationary and unattended
scanner systems. One label was used in the body shop and the paint
shop (TPS) and the other is used in the final assembly line. So, both
labels must contain identical information. |
| |
| The point performs two general functions: |
| - |
identify the car by reading the barcode and sending
this data to the overlaid system, and |
| - |
check whether both label have the same ID code |
| |
|
| When a new cycle is activated by the start-scanner-signal,
all three scanners (two for the TPS label and one for the M1 label)
are started and the PKN on the two labels are read. Once both PKN
numbers were received, they are compared. If both numbers are identical,
the number is sent to FIS-OPTIMO and will be shown on the display.
|
| If the signal EMPTY SKID is set, the system generates
a PKN number with all positions filled with S and does not start
the scanner. If both numbers do not match, an alarm output is set,
the manual entry is enabled and one of the numbers must be corrected. |
 |
When FIS responds without error to the transmission
the conveyor is released.
Misreadings of the unattended scanners are solved by two methods:
|
| - |
local manual entry, or |
| - |
remote manual entry from a control room.
There are video camera systems installed, which display the barcode
labels on a monitor in the control room |
