K-Point
|
The application of this data capturing
point is used for identifying a car body at the exit of the warehouse.
It features a two-scanner operation, communication with FIS-host-systems
and the EDE-system, emergency-data-entry in the case of scanner-faults
locally and remote and a display of important data.
The point performs two general functions: |
| - |
identify the car by reading the barcode
and sending this data to the overlaid system, and |
| - |
retrieve related data from a local database
in order to determine the target lane code and supply this code as
a binary information to the connected PLC via digital I/O
|
When a new cycle is activated by the
start-scanner-signal, the scanners are started and the PKN on the
label is read. Once the PKN was received, it is sent to FIS-OPTIMO
and will be shown on the display. If the signal EMPTY SKID is set,
the system generates a PKN number with all positions filled with S
and does not start the scanner.
FIS-OPTIMO sends asynchronous to the scan operation messages containing
a PKN number and a target code for the associated car. This data is
stored in an index-sequential database. Once a PKN number was read,
an attempt is made to read the corresponding data from the database.
If the code was found, the station code KPXX is modified with the
target code to KP01, KP02 or KP03. If no code was found a default
of KP00 will be generated. |
When FIS responds without error
to the
transmission, the conveyor is released.
The picture on the right side shows the
main status screen with the communication
status, digital I/O signals, current PKN numbers,
the target line code and the status
of the scanner operation.
Misreadings of the unattended scanners
are solved by two methods: |
 |
| - |
Local manual entry, or |
| - |
Remote manual entry from
a control room. There are video camera systems installed, which display
the barcode labels on a monitor in the control room. |
A remote data entry system is installed in the control room featuring
the entry of PKN numbers. The K-point has 2
communication channels for the TPS number. When a PKN number could
not be read by the scanner,
a message is sent to the EDE system containing the request code NE.
|
 |
|
In this case the EDE system is raising
an alarm output hereby alerting the personal to the entry of a PKN
number.
If the PKN number was entered locally before a cancel message containing
the code EF is sent to the EDE system. This causes the EDE system
to drop the alarm if no other request is pending. Also each automatic
good capturing is sent to the EDE system and is displayed with the
time when the capturing occurred.
The screen on the left side shows a help display for the convenience
of the maintenance personal. It displays some statistical data regarding
the communication and the number of cars being processed, useful contact
information and the start time of the system. |
